Military English Language and Training Limited works in close coordination with the International School for Security and Explosive Education (ISSEE). Our language training is specifically designed to prepare students with the specialised vocabulary that is needed to understand and optimise the ISSEE training courses and programmes.

Classes are held in the classroom but much of the emphasis is placed on outdoor training.

The Courses

With a considerable background of tri-service (Army, Navy, Air Force) experience courses are designed not only to assist students as they learn English but also they provide a way to increase the general military knowledge required for modern, multinational and joint operations. Uniquely for land force students, much emphasis is placed on outdoor training based on the British Army’s traditional TEWTS (tactical exercises without troops). Students will be taught and have to apply tactical lessons as they learn English using a scenario, a map and the terrain in front of them. Emphasis is placed on the Intelligence Preparation of the Battlefield, the Estimate Process both Formal and Combat and also the Orders Process. Problems are tackled individually, in pairs and in groups. Map exercises are practiced for students from all services using a variety of relevant planning scenarios. Students learn English in courses which are specifically designed to job related activities – where the focus can be on spoken or the written application of the language. The level and formality of the language in the exercises can be readily adjusted to the participating students.

Instruction takes place in the classroom with a teacher student ratio of not more than 1:12.  Students learn English through classroom instruction which is complemented by computer based learning. The newly learned English language skills are then applied in a practical way outside the “safety” of the classroom in Salisbury and local towns.
